Most PPO plans with behavioral health benefits (psychotherapy) allow clients to work with a professional of their choice that is not panelled with their insurance. However, every plan is different, you must inquire directly with your insurance and ask about your benefits.
Here are some key questions to ask your insurance:
Do I have behavioral health benefits?
Can I work with a therapist that is not paneled with my insurance?
How much is my deductible or amount paid before any reimbursement?
What is the maximum allowed amount reimbursed per session?
How many sessions are allowed per calendar year?

Disclaimer: Out-of-Network Insurance Reimbursement
We encourage you to contact the customer service number on the back of your insurance card to ask for details on how this applies to your specific plan.
Keep in mind that partial reimbursement does not cover the full session fee, but it brings the final cost of your child's treatment down to a well below the typical market rate for specialized child therapy services.
Child Therapy San Diego does not handle insurance reimbursement. We provide a monthly statement that you submit to your insurance company yourself. Any follow-up with your insurer is handled directly by you.
