General Info
Intake with Parents
Our parent's intake might require more than one session and happen prior to the beginning of the child's treatment. It is important to take the time to talk in detail about your child's development, emotional needs, strengths and your family's dynamics. During this meeting parents will share their concerns and hear therapist's clinical impressions, decide on treatment goals and the frequency of sessions. Therapist will also provide parents an  overview of the therapeutic process and review CTSD's policies.
Sessions are conducted in person
Working with children involves interaction through various forms of Expressive Arts and Play Therapy. Those are hands-on, relational, integrative and sensorial experiences that best happen when child and therapist are together in the Playroom. In-person therapy contributes to the child's development and refinement of interpersonal social skills as it allows them to perceive differences in body language, tone, pitch of voice, and facial expressions.  In-person sessions allow integration of thoughts, feelings and senses while helping the child to develop awareness of personal space and boundaries. Telehealth sessions are offered only to establish clients and in special circumstances. Telehealth is provided through a HIPPA approved platform according to HIPPA laws.
Initial Consultation
We are happy to offer a 20-minute initial consultation to the families considering working with us. It's essential that clients and therapist feel if they are a good fit for working together. During the consultation the family will meet their therapist, visit our beautiful Playroom, and ask initial questions. The consultation is brief but there will be enough time to get an idea about the work we do at CTSD and what to expect of your child's treatment.

Disclaimer
Please be advised that the consultation is an informal meeting, and that client and therapist's legal engagement only starts after our Office Policy is fully discussed and signed.
Non-Discrimination Policy
