Meet Basak Kaya, APCC
(pronounced Bashack)

Basakis a collaborative and humanistic counselor who believes in the power of evidence-based careto help children and families live more balanced, meaningful lives.
Basak is especially drawn to working with Neurodivergent children,
including ADHD Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and kids who show traits of both.
Basak's work focuses on children's strengths and on understanding how their brains work.
She builds a solid and collaborative relationship with her clients,
honoring their uniqueness and supporting their diversity.

Over time, that combination tends to show up for the child as improved social connection, more effective communication, and greater resilience.
As the child grows, they learn to understand and speak up for their own needs, instead of internalizing that something is wrong with them.​
​
Basak holds a Master's degree in Clinical Counseling from the California School of Professional Psychology, where she was inducted into Chi Sigma Iota, the international honor society for counseling professionals.
She also holds a Master of Business Administration from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science from The University of Virginia.​
​Basak feels most at home in nature, and it shows in her work. She often draws on the natural world as a source of
grounding and healing for the children and families she supports
​
​An adventurous spirit and avid traveler, she has visited 53 countries, gathering experiences that shape a genuine multicultural lens.
​
Her multilingual skills and diverse professional background allow her to connect meaningfully with clients from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic contexts
​
Basak is bilingual in English and Turkish
Outside of the office, Basak loves hiking with her husband, and their two dogs Luke and Leia — named, of course, after Star Wars!
